Quick before no one notices... Our favorite has been girls toy Barbie has been given tattoos. Mattel tried this once before but now they think the public is ready for it.
What is particularly funny about this effort is the tramp stamp they put on her. Barbie's most controversial one reads simply, "Ken". I'm sure kids won't realize a target practice ownership tattoo when they see it.
Personally Mattel's move makes me yawn. They'll get a mention on the six o'clock news. And it is certain that some publications will lead with "Parents are Furious over Barbie" headlines (this is what Mattel wants). The reality is Barbie/Mattel is just looking to bump sales and no one really cares. For those parents that are upset, the answer is simple. You don't let your kids watch MTV if you don't like the channel, you don't let your kids play the violent video game, and you don't buy them this specific Barbie. It's not rocket science. Looks like someone forgot that rule with the little girl above.
